Select the option near that bottom that is called Custom Controls. The first item in the list of controls is always the shutter button. Press the Set button on the camera to open the options for the shutter button. Change the setting from the default setting of Metering and AF Start to just Metering Start. Auto-focus will not work, not because the EF 1.4X III is not compatible but because the combo raises the minimum aperture to f/8 - you lose 1 stop using the 1.4 teleconverter and with the 100-400mm being at f/5.6 that becomes f/8. Some higher end Canon cameras such as the 1D series, the 5D mark III/IV and the 7D Mark II (not sure about the 6D

Apr 2, 2017. 5D IV WILL NOT FOCUS: This is NOT a will not achieve accurate focus problem, but a "Locks Up" and WILL NOT ATTEMPT to focus problem. I have had this same problem on 2 new Canon 5D Mark IV Cameras.. My first Canon 5D Mark IV that arrived in Early February would many times not focus with my 24-105mm (version I ) lens.
1. I have tried two different lenses with the same result (EF 70-200 F4L IS USM and the EF 100 F2,8L IS macro) 2. I have cleaned the lense contacts on both the body and the lense. 3. I've upgraded from firmware 1.2.3 to 1.3.3 and reset the camera to factory settings. 4. I've changed focus back to the shutter button.
01-15-2017 10:19 PM. I assume that you're saying that the camera will not Auto Focus when you half press the shutter button. One reason for the behavior that you describe is if Back Button Focus has been enabled in the camera. Check to see if any of the buttons have been reprogrammed. I've tested the camera with different lenses (Canon 50mm f1.8 USM, the new Tamron 24-70mm f 2.8, Sigma 17-35mm) and I didn't have the message "err 01" in photo mode. I've tested the my 24-70 Tamron with the autofocus turned off and I didn't got the message "err 01"! That's making me think, that the new Canon 6d mark II has a problem with the
04-13-2021 04:02 PM. I have been having some issues with this lens (70-200 2.8 IS ii). These examples were shot at f/ 2.8 and when you zoom in, you can see that really there is nothing in focus. It appears like a total lack of focal plane. I use back button auto focus + single point and focus on the eyes.

EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Autofocus suddenly not working. canonbirds. Contributor. Options. 05-19-2020 04:50 PM. Had this lens since Sep 2019 and worked beautifully for about 6-7 months and I've started noticing issues with it's AF for a couple months. I mainly shoot birds, f/5.6 to f/8. IS mode set to 2 on the lens for movement. This morning, I found the battery dead and The autofocus on my camera doesn't work (I don't know if the lens autofocus is bad, because I only have one camera with me, but i'm sure the camera autofocus is bad, because I have several lenses. Options. 08-23-2015 01:59 PM. Just bought the 5Ds r and have used it once (yesterday) on a shoot. Seemed to work fine. Picked it up today and the autofocus doesn't work with either of the two lenses I have at my disposal. I haven't changed a thing that I know of. I've cleared all custom functions and cleared camera settings to try and fix.
